Troop 440,

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Bill Norling as the new Scoutmaster for Troop 440. Bill comes to us with an impeccable set of Scouting credentials, along with an extensive and impressive array of Scouting experience. His Scouting Resume includes the following positions in the past ten (10) years, and the awards and decorations listed, as follows:

  • Scoutmaster (SM), Troop 40, Grand Canyon Council 
  • Assistant Scoutmaster (ASM) Troop 648, Grand Canyon Council 
  • Founding Venture Crew Advisor (VCA), Crew 518, Northeast Georgia Council
  • Scoutmaster (SM), Troop 827, Atlanta Area Council
  • Over 7 years experience as a SM, ASM and VCA in the past ten (10) years
  • Cubmaster, Pack Committee Chair, Pack 518, Northeast Georgia Council
  • Eagle Scout, Troop 268, Phoenix, AZ, rank awarded 1975
  • Vigil Honor, Order of the Arrow, Wipala Wiki Lodge, Grand Canyon Council (Highest Honor)
  • Completion of the six (6) day Woodbadge Leadership Intensive Training Course
  • Adult Leader Awards/Decorations – Tiger Den Leader Award, Cub Scouter Award, Cubmaster Award, Scouter’s Training Award, New Unit Organizer Award.

Bill is an affable and charismatic man who is well-liked by youth and adults alike. He has energized many Scouting programs! His training and safety record is equally impressive. Bill holds multiple certifications in:

     + Climb on Safely

     + Council Climbing Instructor

     + Safety Afloat

     + Physical Wellness

     + Safe Swim Defense

     + This is Scouting!

     + Outdoor Leadership Skills

     + New Leader Essentials

     + Fast Start Boy Scouting

     + Youth Protection Training

Bill Norling will assume the role of Scoutmaster immediately, and preside over our meeting next Monday. David Mettler has resigned as Scoutmaster, but I want to thank him for his past year of service. We will recognize David at our next Court of Honor.

We were honored to have Scottsdale's finest talk to our scouts at last night's troop meeting. In attendance were Scottsdale Police Sergeant Rigberg, Officer Bayer and Officer Boesen. We'd also like to send a special thanks to the Scottsdale Police Department's, "PAO" Officer Jason Glenn for working with SPL Brad "behind the scenes" to set this presentation up!! Thank you!
